Heart at rest while the stars weep

My pieces have a lot of backstory and meaning to them which I pour into the visuals. They honestly are created from my personal history of memories and thoughts circling around in my emotional landscape, then they come down through my arm, and into my hand, through the pencils, and onto the paper. It may sound trite to some people, but that is how I feel it is working through me. This piece is meant to show the duality of living a very happy life while also being aware of a deep sadness you have integrated into your Self.

This one is inspired by a Beth Orton song called “when the stars all seem to weep.” Like many of my pieces, it is about integrating grief into your life and moving along as Life itself just naturally projects you forward. There is a line in the song when Beth sings “look at me doing all these things without you” and that lyric just guts me every time I hear it.
