ART & VERSE 2024

"Love Into the Ether" will be included in the upcoming EXPRESSIONS: ART & VERSE 2024 Exhibition at the Addison Center for the Arts (ACA) in Addison IL. The show runs February 23-March 16.

EXPRESSIONS: ART & VERSE 2024 is ACA's 4th collaboration between Illinois artists & the Illinois State Poetry Society.

ISPS poets juried the show by choosing their favorite image from candidates’ submitted entries.

The Opening Reception is on February 24 from 1-4pm in which ISPS poets recite ekphrastic poems they’ve written about their selected piece of art. The public is invited to enjoy the art exhibit in the gallery and then attend the poetry recital by members of the ISPS in the adjacent studio theater.

This is going to be a super cool melding of two art forms — poetry & visual art!! Very exciting, interesting, and DIFFERENT!

“Love is a Golden Thread of Lightening” (17h x 23w) (Watercolor pencils, colored pencils, acrylic pens, micron pens, and metallic pens on watercolor paper) has been juried into the Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists Annual Winter Exhibition. The Opening Reception is January 19 from 7-10pm at the renowned Zhou B Art Center in Chicago IL.

The exhibition runs through March 3.

“Healing Blanket: Cellular River Bank” (14.5h X 13.5w) (Watercolor Pencils, Colored Pencils, Paint Pens, Ink & Graphite on Watercolor Paper) will be included in the Adler Art Center Annual Member Exhibition January 12-March 3.

The Opening Reception is January 19 from 6-8pm.

This is a beautiful venue — a historic home with carriage house and outbuildings in a wooded setting — perfect to showcase so many talented artists from the community.

Cellular Healing Blanket: Water & Light will be shown in the Annual Members Exhibition of the Robert T Wright Gallery of Art at the College of Lake County in Grayslake IL starting January 19 through February 25.

The Opening Reception is January 19 from 5-7:30pm.

My piece “The Presence of Absence” (17x17 Mixed Media) will be included in the upcoming annual InView Member Exhibition at The Art Center Highland Park starting December 15 through January 20. Over 140 pieces are in the exhibition showcasing the amazing talent of the TACHP artistic community.

The Opening Reception is Friday, December 15, 530-8pm.

There will also be a fundrasier for the Israeli Red Cross where artists decorated a 12" wooden mannequin for sale at $100 each. Mine is called "Cellular Healer."

I'm super excited to share that my artwork "Cellular Memories: Roe v Wade -- This Space is Mine" was juried into the 15th Annual Women's Exhibition, titled "Don't Drag Me Down: Today's Battle for Liberation," at the Koehnline Museum of Art at Oakton College in Des Plaines IL.

Opening Reception: Thursday, October 5, 5-8pm

I created this piece in direct response to the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade after 50 years of precedence. I'm honored to be selected to participate in this very important exhibition about the many changes in U.S. legislation in the last year that threaten our bodily autonomy, our gender identities, our sexualities, and our intellectual freedoms — plus the shocking shifts in our culture-at-large towards exclusion and violence.

“Cellular Healing: When Grief Turns To Gold” has been selected for presentation in the 2023 Recent Works Juried Art Competition & Exhibition at the College of Lake County in Grayslake IL.

The exhibition will be in the Robert T. Wright Gallery of Art located on the first floor of the Library which is in Building L (Library or LRC — Learning Resource Center).

The best way to access the show is to enter Building P (Performing Arts) and follow the signage to Building L (Library); additionally, there is a limited number of handicapped parking just outside Building L. The show can be seen from 730am-9pm Monday-Thursday, 730am-6pm Fridays and 8am-3pm Saturdays.

Harper College's Annual Small Works National Juried Exhibition highlights work selected from entries by artists from across the country. The show features a wide array of media, ranging from photography and prints, to painting and sculpture. 

I’m thrilled that “All the Light at the End” was accepted into this show!

This art attempts to depict the emotional & psychological happiness I felt inside, behind, and within my eyes during and after two successful cataract surgeries. One to remove a fast growing cataract that had blocked all light to the retina of my right eye and one to remove a second cataract also quickly growing in my left eye. Three of my nature-inspired artworks will be featured in a new show called VISIBLE running June 11-September 3 at the Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods in Riverwoods IL.

The show will exhibit art from 26 artists bringing to life the latest data on health, equity, and nature in our community. Inspired by findings from Brushwood Center’s Health, Equity, and Nature Accelerator, this multi-media exhibition illuminates the systemic inequities that impact peoples’ access to a healthy environment. Often described as “invisible barriers,” this work visualizes the data of respondent experiences through interviews, maps, and artist perspectives. Learn more here.

There’s a story in every work of art. The Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists (CAVA) is sponsoring this juried exhibition showcasing works exploring the stories within the images created by CAVA members. See and feel how CAVA artists translate their experience, thoughts, feelings and insights into visual stories.

I am so honored that my art work “Healing Blanket: Cellular Memories of Your Voice in the Thunder” was juried into this show. This artwork pays tribute to my son, Carson, who died before he was born and who was birthed as a stillborn baby. This art is a grief blanket, a baby blanket, and a healing blanket for anyone suffering neonatal loss, stillborn infants, miscarriage, or any kind of child loss.

The Opening Reception for this interesting and unique show is Friday, February 3, 6-9pm.
