The Presence of Absence

A lot of my art has to do with experiencing conflicting emotions at the very same time and how we coexist with negative and positive emotions simultaneously. You can be happy and sad at the very same time. You can be ambitious and defeated at the same time. You can feel loved and also be lonely at the same time. You can go about your day and your life feeling very productive, feeling very excited and positive about your trajectory, yet also feel like somehow something is missing. It’s a longing, a melancholy, wrapped within the joy and satisfaction of your daily life. I refer to this phenomenon as “the presence of absence.” That’s what this particular “cellular healing” drawing/painting is about.
